IIABSC has been actively working with business and industry groups to improve the legal system in South Carolina. Unfortunately, an unfair and unbalanced legal system is limiting the options that insurance customers have for some liability insurance – including commercial trucking, construction and liquor liability.

There are multiple recommendations for statute improvements. One key bill has been introduced in the SC Senate ( S 533 ), which is endorsed by the SC Coalition for Lawsuit Reform. This legislation is intended to modify our Joint & Several Liability statute to a fairer system and ultimately help numerous businesses and industries.

We are encouraging agents to talk with their legislators – and better yet – engaging your agency customers to reach out to legislators.
