IIABSC member agency Atlantic Shield Insurance Group in Mount Pleasant was recently featured in Rough Notes magazine as the June 2020 agency of the month.

Agency owners Erik Loesch and Hill Shaw were college roomates, and both went on to work in financial services. Erik started the agency in 2004, and Hill joined as partner the next year. Now nearly 20 years later they are going strong with about 20 employees.

The piece talks about the different phases the agency has gone through, from the hustle of the startup, eventually slowing down to cultivate existing accounts and fine-tune agency procedures and then realizing once they are micromanaging and shifting their focus to look ahead for further growth. They share the impact business coaching has made in their growth and long-term planning and how disaster planning for the inevitability of  hurricanes allowed their agency to focus on their clients and less on transitioning the agency itself during the COVID-19 crisis.
