IIABSC Foundation Scholarship winners

Presented during the opening session of Spring Conference on March 6

IIABSC Foundation Chairman of the Board of Trustees Tommy Cook awarded the annual recepients of its newest scholarship program during the opening session of the IIABSC Spring Conference on March 6 in Columbia, SC.

Each year the Foundation awards five college scholarships to the childen of member agency employees whose children are either entering college or already undergrads. To be eligible, applicants must be a South Carolina resident and enrolled as a full-time student in the fall. They are looking for students that are active in his or her school and community, demonstrate a solid work ethic and possess strong leadership abilities, teamwork and a desire to succeed.

Call for applications are in October with a December 31 deadline. In 2019, we received 17 applications. The following are the winners:

Bladen Bates, graduating from Wade Hampton High School and attending Woffard College in the Fall. She intends to major in Psychology. She is the daughter of Tom Bates with Assured Partners/ Herlong Bates Burnett in Greenville.

Perrin Berry, currently attending the University of South Carolina with a business major. He is the son of Scott Berry with the Insurance Office of America in Columbia.

Andrew Cash, graduating from Landrum High School. So far he is undecided on where he will be attending and what he hopes to major in. He is the son of Kelley Cash with the Correll Insurance Group.

Patrick Ellis, currently attending the University of South Carolina with a Political Science major. He is the son of Lee Ellis with Ellis Realty & Insurance Agency in Hampton.

Erica Seaford, graduating from York Comprehensive High School. So far she is undecided where she will be attending in the Fall, but she knows that she wants to major in Health Science. She is the daughter of Nicole Seaford, who works at Correll Insurance Group.

Congratulations and best wishes to each of our winners and their parents too. Winners who meet the criteria are eligible to reapply next year. Special thanks to all who made contributions to the Foundation this past year.

The IIABSC Foundation was established in 1984 to support charitable and educational endeavors that benefit both the public and our industry. Over the years it has contributed more than half a million dollars to causes that meet our purpose, supported by the generous charitable contributions of individuals and companies within the industry.
