TORT REFORM UPDATE: S. 244 Supporters Rally at the State House

Justice Act of 2025 introduced in full Senate

Senate bill 244, known as Justice Act of 2025, is expected to be introduced in the full Senate on March 5.

Major supporters of the bill rallied at the State House along with business leaders from around the state on the morning of March 5 in support of the bill.

Major supporters of the bill include Gov. McMaster, Lt. Governor Pamela Evette, Senate President Tom Alexander, Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey and Sen. Ross Turner, who is also an agency owner and IIABSC member as well as co-sponsor of the bill.  Hundreds of people from the South Carolina small business community braved the rain and high winds to show up in support of this bill.

IIABSC also sent a delegation of leaders to represent our members in support of this bill, and the SC Young Agents also made the rounds at the State House visiting their legislators earlier this week.

"Now is the time to act. Now is the time to fix this problem, " said SC State Senate President Tom Alexander.

"Our civil justice system is broken! " said Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey, who is also the primary sponsor of S. 244.

Please continue to REACH OUT TO YOUR SENATORS to let them know that it is time to fix an unfair, out-of-balance legal system that forces businesses to pay for damages that someone else is responsible for. Your grassroots involvement is crucial in shaping a more sustainable business climate and insurance market in South Carolina.
