The SC Department of Insurance (SCDOI) now has a new online licensing interface by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) that makes it easier for agencies and producers to manage licenses, print licenses, look up companies and licensees, etc. Agency and individual producer license numbers have changed to match their National Producer Numbers (NPN).
CE Compliance going forward
Producers are not able to renew their licenses until all required continuing education has been completed and reported to Prometric. CE takes up to 30 days to be filed, so it is very important that producers complete their required CE hours long before their renewal deadline. If a producer does not complete all five steps to renewing their licenses prior to their deadline, their license will lapse and cannot be renewed until the CE is posted on the Prometric website (up to 30 days after completed).
How to lookup your National Producer Number
From www.statebasedsystems.com, click on Lookup link.
Select "South Carolina" in Jurisdiction dropdown.
Select "Licensee" in Search Type dropdown.
Enter Individual's last name. You can also enter first name or leave it blank.
Check box that you agree to NAIC's Terms & Conditions.
Click Search button.
On the results page, if you need to do another search, information can be entered on the left side of the page rather than starting all over.
NEW ONLINE TOOLS:
License Numbers: South Carolina license numbers for individuals now match their National Producer Numbers (NPNs). All business entities and companies were assigned new license numbers effective October 15. License numbers and NPNs can be accessed using the SBS Lookup tool. See instructions above.
License Printing: Licensees are able to obtain a PDF license via the SBS License Manager tool.

Lookup: A free public lookup tool to view a variety of individual, business entity and company information such as National Producer Number (NPN), license status, license expiration date, NAIC Co Code and FEIN.

Report Generator: Users may create a licensee (individual and/or business entity) mailing list for a nominal fee using a wide variety of criteria.
